Writing crochet patterns is a skill - and as with all skills, the more you practice, the easier it gets. You just need to take the first step... In the first half of the Workshop, get acquainted with the various resources, standard techniques, and common tools needed to write good patterns. During the second half of the workshop, a finished project will be analyzed and a pattern written for it. (Note: This class does NOT cover: designing techniques, selling your patterns, nor using crochet symbol software.)

  • Student Maximum: 20
  • Skill Level and Technique: Crochet, All Levels
  • Prerequisite: Student should have working knowledge of the basic crochet stitches.
  • Homework: (Optional) If you have a project that needs a pattern written for it (and don't mind sharing with the class), bring it along for analysis.
  • Supply List: A selection of smooth, light colored, worsted weight yarn (not variegated - these are for playing/testing and do not need to be full skeins), set of suitable crochet hooks, yarn needle and scissors, gauge tool and/or tape measure, stitch markers, notebook and pen/pencil.
  • Kit: $5.00 kit fee payable to instructor. Kit includes printed materials.
