Joe Coca, Photographer, Thrums Books
Have you ever wondered what it's like to make the fabric you need to live, or to make yarn and clothing for a living? What if your whole life centered around making fiber arts by hand? Linda Ligon and Joe Coca have traveled around the world—to China, Peru, Morocco, Afghanistan, the Navajo Reservation, Guatemala, and more—collecting stories and photographs of some of the world's most extraordinary yarn workers. Beginning in 2012, the team that spent decades creating Interweave books and magazines began a new venture, Thrums Books, which is "dedicated to preserving the narrative of traditional textiles and their makers." (If you've visited the Cloth Roads booth, the objects you admired might be subjects of Thrums Books.)
Join Linda and Joe for an evening of breathtaking photos and fascinating stories of yarn and cloth around the world.
